Protest Against Delhi Gang Rape- II

Different voices are being heard from the streets of Delhi for CM Sheila Dixit, Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar and Congress led State and Central government's resignation. Par Kaun si Sarkar isse achchi hai ya hogi yeh sahi mein sochne wali baat hai. I personally can't imagine that BJP led NDA or Third Front or IAC with Fourth Front can deliver better than this. Systemic change is required not just faces.

I really don't feel bringing down Shiela Dixit will make any positive difference to Delhi, because expecting much from her alternatives, be it Vijender Gupta, Vijay Goyal or anybody else would be useless. And same is applicable for Police Commissioner as well. Anger against Congress is well understood but choosing anyone just to outcast Congress won't be a good idea.

Today I asked one of my colleague who went to Rajpath yesterday to protest and witnessed the attacks and counter attacks of Protesters and Delhi Police, what does she really want? Her answer was simple- "Justice". Now if she meant to address our Security Crisis, Law and Order Issues and Slow Judicial Process then I believe we all are at same page and want some radical changes of this rotten political environment and current system. But if she meant to make Amendments in the present Law to make it more strict and to exercise Capital Punishment against the Rapists, then there are already several opinions among our law makers, human right activists and civil society bodies. Serious and sincere discussions are needed before making any changes.

Violent protest is not the solution of our anger and won't lead us to anywhere. It's clear by now that yesterday's shameful incident took place because of some politically motivated elements who hijacked the whole Peaceful Protest and intentionally moved it towards a horrific situation. This shouldn't have happened and I believe this could have been easily avoided if we were more alert and organised.

We need to be more focused on our demands and the path we choose for achieving it...
